We have to admit. We’re not all elaborate meal planners.
We personally like to not spend so much time planning what we want to eat for the rest of the month. If you’re anything like us, then you’ve come to the right place.
Here are tips to make meal planning the easiest it can be — and not compromise on health and affordability.
Have themed nights
It’s just far too much work coming up with various recipes every single day. Sometimes, we just want to make something quick, easy and enjoyable. The trick is to come up with themed nights. Try to have Stir Fry Sundays or Soup Saturdays. Our personal favorite is Taco Tuesdays!
Focus on 20 core meals
You don’t have to make it hard on yourself when planning what to eat. Sometimes, all it takes is having 20 core meals to work around with. The best way to go about this is to talk to your family and brainstorm those 20 meals. From here, you will always cook the right meals that your loved ones will appreciate.
Work with the same ingredient
Contrary to popular belief, working with the same ingredient doesn’t make meal planning bland and boring. In fact, it’s all about being creative with your recipes. You can cook a chicken once and shred it for tacos or sandwiches. You can also use the bones for future stock.
Don’t miss out on discounts
The main goal of meal planning is to provide an affordable way to feed families better food. Make the best of what you have by being in the constant hunt for bargains, bulks and discounts. You’d be surprised how much money you can save.
